Nails - Week of March 27

Image
I am suuuuper addicted to doing my nails. It is a stress reliever for me to sit, watch my TV shows and paint my nails. Here is what I did this week: My newest colour- Teal We Meet Again - Sephora by O.P.I I am all about the different colours, are they considered accent colours on your nails? It is kind of hard to see the colour, but the blue is Mint Candy Apply by Essie and the gold is Guilty Pleasure by Sally Hanson Salon Complete I was so proud of this one! The purple is Soul Mate by Essie and then over top is Guilty Pleasure from Sally Hanson again. Done by Konad Stamps. First time using that particular stamp and it is by far the easiest one.

I was inspired by this video on you tube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP6CAeK2Qcs I painted the colours on first and then put the white over top. The red is Dutch Tulips by OPI, the blue is by Ardene, the yellow is from Urban Outfitters and the white is the Sally Hanson polish pen. That ran out on my towards the end so I just used the white polish that comes with the Konad stamp kit, the tiny brush worked better then the pen. Here is what I came up with:

I was inspired by Petrilude to share my nail designs with you guys. Enjoy! That orangey colour was by Essie and the white was from Sally Hanson's nail pens. I do not recommend those pens. This colour was Dutch Tulips by OPI. HIGHLY recommend this colour These first two were done with Konad nail stamps. Takes a lot of practice and patience, but totally worth it! These next two were free hand. This one I chose a lilac, This one is by Joe fresh, then coloured the whole side tip with a dark purple from Nicole by OPI then took a very light Essie and went over top. This was inspired by Kim Cattrel's nails in SATC2. First I did a base with the gold, Gilty Pleasure by Sally Hansen and then with a little bit of OPI's Here Today Aragon Tomorrow on my brush made two downward strokes in opposite directions then filled it in normally. Love this look! **sorry for the bad cell phone pics. Better pics next time I promise!

Gift Giving Guide

I know the holiday season is over, but this could be applied to any holiday or birthday! This to was published in The Gauntlet 'Tis the season for cramming and shopping! Do not make Christmas presents another stressor, take a study break and get creative. The best Christmas gifts are ones that allow you to appreciate the loved ones in your life and there's no greater gift than time. Finding presents that allow you to spend time together will create long-lasting memories and strengthen relationships.   While gift certificates are a good way to ensure your friends can buy something they actually like, it also often comes across as thoughtless. This doesn't have to be the case, however. Buy a family member or friend a gift certificate for a coffee shop or restaurant but say they are only allowed to spend it when you are together. It's a nice way to keep in touch and give the gift of friendship. Calgary often gets too cold in the winter to go out, so stay in to play s

Bikram Hot Yoga

We can all agree that our lives as students can be super stressful. How can we deal with this stress in a positive way? Look no further than the new fitness fad Hot Yoga. The local spot Bikram Yoga Calgary North located in Varsity has classes throughout the day to either kick-start or wind-down your day. Another article I wrote for the University of Calgary's newspaper The Gauntlet We can all agree that our lives as students can be super stressful. How can we deal with this stress in a positive way? Look no further than the new fitness fad Hot Yoga. The local spot Bikram Yoga Calgary North located in Varsity has classes throughout the day to either kick-start or wind-down your day. Aside from the slammin physic, Bikram promises you a mind numbing experience. “The instant thing that people feel is the calming of the central nervous system due to breath and being in Savasana” says instructor Cheryl Miller. Who in the what now? Hot Yoga can simply be described as your run of t

Print Making/ Silk Screening

Materials needed: A template to carve into to make the print, whether that is Styrofoam, wood Printing or Painting rollers Printing ink, poster paint Material to transfer the print on, paper is common, but do not be scared to get creative! Pencils newspapers The first step is to figure out what you are going to design and what you are going to transfer it on to. sketch it out on a scrap piece of paper first, it is much easier to erase rather than trying to fix carvings. Once you have created your beautiful design, the next step is to carve it on the template. If using Styrofoam, carve with a pencil. The substance must be able to handle carving and able to transfer the pattern. Make sure to carve very deep so when you roll the paint on the design is still visible. Lay down newspapers under your design, you can also use paper for the paint. Roll your paint roller through the paint on the paper, then ever so lighting roll it onto your design template. Ensure paint has gotten into the c
